Everyone needs an outlet to escape. I have listed below some ideas that are simple but effective ways self-care can be implemented into your day.
As our days go by, we often lose track of time and get more stressed than ever. Whether it’s balancing college class while having a part-time/full-time job or trying to balance a work life and social life, it is important to stop and cherish the little moments that can contribute to our self-care and overall well being.
This post is dedicated to sharing 10 of the simplest ways to implement self-care into an everyday routine. It takes as little as 15 minutes.
1. Get your body moving.

Go for a short walk, try yoga, take a workout class, or ride your bike. Physically move your body to not only improve your range of motion, but your mental health.
We take for granted the ways our bodies can be used to relieve stress. So SIMPLE and very EFFECTIVE.
2. Read your favorite book.

Find a favorite book, even if you’ve already read it. Take at least 15 minutes of your day to sit, and read your book.
Soak in the quietness and take advantage of the alone time.
3. Start a hobby.

Hobbies like crochet or drawing/painting are perfect examples of ways to showcase your creativity. If you are doing something you love, there is less stress in the creative process.
Don’t see yourself as creative? Other hobbies like sports and cooking and/or baking are other options!
This is why I created Simplified Jane. This blog is an outlet to display my creativity in my own way. Allowing me to escape from my college stress, and share happiness and life inspo to you!
4. Turn on your favorite song.

Blasting your favorite song, even on repeat, is extremely mood boosting! Have a jam session while you’re on the way to work or driving home. Perform a concert in the shower. There are so many opportunities to play music throughout the day.
One of my favorite songs to jam to is Electric Love by BORNS. Give it a listen, and be prepared to feel the urge to dancing like no other and sing to the top of your lungs.
DANCE IT OUT!
5. Value your sleeping schedule.

Beauty sleep… nothing like coming home from a long day and getting in a warm bed.
It is so vital to get enough sleep for conquering the next day. Without a good night’s rest, our bodies get sluggish and we hit an afternoon slump.
Evaluate how much sleep you are getting every night. If it’s under 6 hours, try to add one or two hours tonight, and see how you feel the next morning.
There are so many more health benefits that come from sleep, and when it comes to self-care, this is something we are able to control.
6. Go outside.

You may be thinking, “Go outside, seriously?” Yes! Soak up that vitamin D!
Have your morning coffee outside, take your workout outside, or just simply sit on your porch. These are a few of the many ways to go outside, and enjoy fresh air.
Enjoy your “ME” time!
7. Make time for your skin care routine.

Trust me, your skin will thank you in the long run for implementing this into your daily routine.
You can make it a ritual every morning and night by devoting the time to take care of your skin. Allowing the skin to breathe, and get cleansed of excess oils and build up.
Find what works for your skin, while giving yourself a mini spa day everyday.
Apply that face mask girl!
8. Spend time with friends and family.

The happiness that is shared between your friends and family can be radiant and consuming!
Not close to your friends and family? Give them a call! We have the ability to be one call away from everyone we love and care about, take advantage of it!
9. Cook a meal.

Just like finding your favorite hobby, having an outlet like cooking is a great option! Get creative with your flavors! Experiment with new ingredients!
Over quarantine, I have found a love for cooking for myself and my family. It truly lets me be creative with healthy foods. I get to have time to myself while I look forward to enjoying good food.
10. Make your bed.

This is your morning motivation. The first step into a new day, so make it count. Make your bed!
A simple step that takes less than 5 minutes! Coming home to a nice, made-up bed is a great feeling.
